Robertson Composites Inc. was incorporated in 1999 by Kelly Leach, originally a smallbore shooter but leaning towards fullbore, and Ian Robertson, a fullbore shooter who leans towards all kinds of shooting. Together they have built a reputation for making precision, composite rifle stocks with unsurpassed quality, accuracy and longevity.
Ian Robertson first started making composite rifle stocks over thirty years ago and used them to good advantage on his first Canadian Rifle Team to Bisley in 1979. "It seemed like a good idea at the time to help pay for my shooting habits although my parents didn't really appreciate my use of polyester resin in the basement". The first stocks were definitely a bit on the rough side, compared to the products today, but he never had a complaint about them not shooting well! Many of the stocks built then are still in active use and winning more than their share of world class matches.
The photo to the right was taken on the range at Connaught in 1999 and is a fine example of one of the early stocks. It has been modified with bits of wood and a bent up trigger guard. But does it ever shoot! Most of the materials that were used then have been replaced, having found better along the way... "Even in our inexperienced beginnings we seemed to make an great shooting stock". The stock in the photo was the start of the "Original" model which is now one of the most popular models for prone TR shooters.
Today RCI is housed in a 4000sq/ft facility stocked with all the required machinery and know-how to ensure a quality product every time. With many times the employees of only a few years ago the company is still small enough to give personal attention to your custom rifle stock. Almost every stock shipped is either inspected, bedded or had something done by Ian or Kelly. All the employees at RCI have the power and the duty to stop any stock they feel does not meet quality standards and they are all vital to maintaining the quality products for which RCI is renowned around the world.
